Voice
VSI's Voice service is enabled by technology known as Voice over Internet
Protocol, also called VoIP, IP telephony, or Internet telephony. VoIP is the
technology that makes it possible to have a telephone conversation where the
signal is carried over the Internet or a dedicated network in Internet Protocol
(IP) packets, instead of over dedicated voice transmission lines. This allows
the elimination of circuit switching and the associated waste of bandwidth.
Instead, packet switching is used, where IP packets with voice data are sent
over the network only when data needs to be sent, i.e. when a caller is
talking.
Through an alliance with various telephony companies, we are able to offer
private label client branded VOICE service solutions that work on both dial-up
and broadband connections. This enables the bundling in various configurations
of our webpack, dial-up and VoIP products, to form a complete communications
solution for our clients.
Our client branded Voice product also comes with a broadband adapter, which
connects the users existing phone to their broadband connection. Since the
adapter works with an existing phone service, the user will continue to receive
calls through every phone jack in their home. When the user makes 11-digit
calls to the USA or Canada through the device, these calls are automatically
sent through our Voice service, as part of their unlimited monthly service.
International calls made through the broadband phone will also go through our
VOICE service, and the user will be charged separately at our low rates. ie.
calls to London, Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Rome are currently around just
3¢/min. There is no fixed term contract or commitment for our Voice service,
and as the user keeps their existing phone number, the user's existing
answering machine works as it always has, and the user can be up and running in
just minutes for the software version and a few days in the case of the
broadband product.
